Tiruppur, India – A 27-year-old woman named Ridhanya took her own life in Tiruppur, Tamil Nadu, just two months after her wedding, leaving behind audio messages that detailed alleged mental and physical abuse by her husband and in-laws over dowry demands. Ridhanya married 28-year-old Kavinkumar in April 2025. According to reports, her family provided a substantial dowry, including 800 grams of gold and a luxury car worth approximately $85,000 USD. Despite this, Ridhanya faced relentless pressure from her husband and his family for additional dowry, which reportedly escalated into harassment and abuse.
In at least seven audio messages recorded before her death, Ridhanya expressed her despair, saying, “I cannot bear his torture.” The messages, which have since circulated widely, described the emotional and physical toll of the alleged abuse. Authorities are investigating the claims, and the case has drawn significant attention on social media, with many condemning the persistence of dowry practices in modern India.
