DMK Seeks Youth to Bolster Dravidian Movement
Chennai, June 16, 2025 – The Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK), Tamil Nadu’s ruling party, is actively recruiting young members to strengthen its Dravidian ideology. The party aims to energize its ranks ahead of the 2026 state elections.
DMK is leveraging its mouthpiece, Murasoli, to engage youth. The newspaper will feature content tailored for younger readers, promoting Dravidian values. A new fellowship program is also launched. It offers training in politics and social justice, targeting college students and young professionals.
“The youth are our future,” said DMK leader M.K. Stalin. “We want them to carry forward our fight for equality.” The party claims growing support among young voters. Recent surveys show DMK’s welfare schemes resonate with Tamil Nadu’s youth.
However, challenges remain. Critics argue DMK’s anti-Hindi stance alienates some urban youth. The rival AIADMK-BJP alliance is also wooing younger voters. Political analyst K. Muralidhar said, “DMK’s success depends on balancing tradition with modern aspirations.”
The fellowship will start in July, with 500 initial participants. DMK hopes these efforts will cement its dominance in Tamil Nadu politics.
