Air India Flight AI171 Crashes Near Ahmedabad Airport
Ahmedabad, India – Air India Flight AI171 crashed near Ahmedabad’s Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Airport on Thursday, 12 June 2025. The Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner was bound for London Gatwick. It carried 242 people, including 230 passengers and 12 crew members.
The plane took off at 1:38 p.m. local time. It issued a mayday call shortly after. The aircraft then lost contact with air traffic control. It crashed into a residential area in Meghani Nagar, near the airport. Thick black smoke rose from the site.
