“This was purely a police call,” sources within the cricket administration reiterated, underlining that no directive was issued by match organizers regarding whistles.
Police Clarification and Confusion
Adding another layer to the episode, a senior police official later stated that the restriction stemmed from ground-level miscommunication and confusion, rather than a deliberate attempt to curb political expression. According to the official, the enforcement may have been inconsistent and amplified by misinterpretation among security personnel.
