Supreme Court Rejects Plea to Revoke Mukesh Ambani’s Z+ Security
New Delhi, June 13, 2025 – The Supreme Court of India dismissed a petition challenging the Z+ security cover provided to Reliance Industries Chairman Mukesh Ambani and his family. The court criticized the litigant for repeatedly filing “vexatious” and “frivolous” pleas.
A bench led by Justices Krishna Murari and Ahsanuddin Amanullah stated that security decisions are the government’s prerogative, not the judiciary’s. The court emphasized that the state evaluates threat perceptions on a case-by-case basis.
Mukesh Ambani, one of India’s richest individuals, has been under Z+ security since 2013, with costs borne by the family. The protection extends across India and abroad, as per a 2023 Supreme Court order. The court reiterated that the Ambanis’ business activities justify comprehensive security.
The petitioner, Bikash Saha, had previously challenged the security cover in the Tripura High Court, which was overruled in 2022. The Supreme Court warned against further misuse of judicial processes for such matters.
