In a shocking incident in Bengaluru, India, a 40-year-old woman named Asha was found dead inside a municipal garbage truck on Sunday, June 29, 2025. Her live-in partner, Mohammed Shamshuddin, a 33-year-old man from Assam, has been arrested for her murder, police said.
The gruesome discovery was made early Sunday morning near Channammanakere Skating Ground in South Bengaluru. A local resident, Mustaf, noticed blood and hair on a gunny bag inside the garbage truck and alerted the police. Officers from the Chennammanakere Achukattu police station found Asha’s body stuffed in the sack, with her hands and legs tied.
Police investigations revealed that Asha, a widow with two children, had been living with Shamshuddin in a rented house in Bengaluru’s Hulimavu area for about a year and a half. Both worked at a housekeeping company, where they met. Authorities believe Shamshuddin strangled Asha during a heated argument, possibly linked to a domestic dispute. To cover up the crime, he allegedly tied her body, placed it in a sack, and transported it on his motorcycle before dumping it in the garbage truck in the early hours of Sunday.
CCTV footage played a key role in identifying Shamshuddin as the suspect. The footage showed him moving the body and disposing of it in the truck. Police tracked him down using his motorcycle’s registration number and arrested him in Hulimavu on Sunday night.
“A murder case has been registered, and the accused is in custody for questioning,” said Lokesh B. Jagalasar, Deputy Commissioner of Police (South Division). “We are awaiting autopsy and forensic reports to confirm the cause of death and investigate further details.”
Preliminary findings suggest Asha may have been sexually assaulted before her death, though police are waiting for forensic confirmation. The case has sent shockwaves through Bengaluru, raising concerns about domestic violence and safety.
Asha, a native of Bengaluru, leaves behind two children from her previous marriage. Shamshuddin, who is married with two children living in Assam, is being interrogated to uncover the motive behind the crime.
The Bengaluru police have appealed to the public for any information that could assist in the investigation. This tragic incident adds to growing concerns about violent crimes in the city, prompting calls for stronger measures to address domestic disputes and ensure public safety.
