Kevin Durant Eyes Trade to Heat, Rockets, or Spurs
Phoenix, USA – NBA star Kevin Durant has named the Miami Heat, Houston Rockets, and San Antonio Spurs as his preferred trade destinations. Sources told ESPN that Durant, a 15-time All-Star, would commit to a long-term contract with any of these teams.
Durant, 36, is on an expiring $54.7 million contract for the 2025-26 season. The Phoenix Suns are open to trading him but prioritize the best deal for the franchise. They may not limit trades to Durant’s preferred teams. Six to eight teams have shown serious interest.
The Suns have been exploring trade options since the February deadline. Durant averaged 26.6 points, 6.0 rebounds, and 4.2 assists in 62 games this season. He shot an NBA-best 49.7% on jumpers and 53.1% on midrange shots.
The Heat, Rockets, and Spurs offer competitive rosters. Miami could pair Durant with Jimmy Butler and Bam Adebayo. Houston’s young core includes Jabari Smith Jr. and Amen Thompson. San Antonio features Victor Wembanyama and De’Aaron Fox.
Durant’s trade could happen soon, with the NBA Draft approaching. He is eligible for a two-year, $122 million extension after July 6. The Suns aim to regain draft capital and young talent.
Other teams, including the Knicks and Timberwolves, are also in the mix. However, Durant’s preference for long-term commitment may influence negotiations. The NBA awaits where the former MVP will land next.
