Protests Erupt Across U.S. Against Trump’s Policies
Washington, June 15, 2025 — Thousands protested across the United States on Saturday, condemning President Donald Trump’s actions. Demonstrators called him a dictator-in-the-making. They rallied for democracy and immigrant rights.
In cities like New York, Chicago, and Atlanta, crowds filled streets and parks. They chanted against authoritarianism. Signs demanded protection for immigrants. Protests also criticized Trump’s mass deportation policies.
On January 23, Trump launched aggressive immigration enforcement. ICE raids detained 538 people in major cities. Critics, including Newark’s mayor, claimed some detentions lacked warrants. The White House defended the raids, targeting “illegal immigrant criminals.”
Protests intensified after Trump deployed 4,000 National Guard troops and 700 Marines to Los Angeles. California Governor Gavin Newsom called it an assault on democracy. He sued, arguing the move violated state sovereignty. A federal judge temporarily blocked the deployment.
Demonstrators waved U.S. and foreign flags. Many held signs reading “No Deportations Ever!” and “Defend Democracy.” Organizers, like the No Kings movement, vowed to resist Trump’s agenda. They cited Project 2025, a plan critics call a threat to civil liberties.
In Los Angeles, protests turned violent. Clashes with police led to arrests and tear gas use. A curfew was imposed downtown. Similar rallies spread to Seattle, St. Louis, and Las Vegas.
Activists urged Congress to act. They warned of eroding democratic norms. “This is a perilous time for liberty,” said one protester in Massachusetts. Organizers plan more actions, including May Day rallies, to sustain momentum.
