Election Commission Announces Assembly Poll Schedule for Four States and Puducherry
The Election Commission of India (ECI) has officially announced the schedule for the upcoming Assembly elections in four Indian states — West Bengal, Tamil Nadu, Kerala and Assam — along with the Union Territory of Puducherry.
According to the election timetable released by the poll body, Assam, Kerala, and Puducherry will go to the polls on April 9, while Tamil Nadu will conduct voting on April 23.
Meanwhile, the politically crucial state of West Bengal will witness a two-phase election, with polling scheduled for April 23 and April 29.
The counting of votes for all five regions will take place on May 4, after which the results will determine the formation of new governments in the respective states and union territory.
The Election Commission stated that the polling process will be conducted under strict monitoring to ensure free, fair, and transparent elections. Security arrangements and administrative preparations are expected to be intensified across all polling regions in the coming weeks.
Political parties have begun preparing for intense campaigns, as these elections are seen as significant in shaping the political landscape of eastern and southern India.
With several national and regional parties expected to contest vigorously, the elections are likely to draw considerable national attention in the run-up to the polling dates.
