Boy Whose Father and Nine Siblings Were Killed in Israeli Strike Travels to Italy for Treatment

A young Palestinian boy who lost his father and nine siblings in an Israeli airstrike has been taken to Italy for medical treatment and psychological care.
The boy, identified as 11-year-old Yazan Al-Kafarna, was one of the few survivors after his home in northern Gaza was bombed. The tragic strike killed ten members of his immediate family.
Doctors say Yazan sustained serious injuries, including burns and shrapnel wounds. He also suffers from severe emotional trauma. Italian authorities responded to a humanitarian request and arranged for his urgent transfer.
Yazan arrived in Rome on a specially arranged medical flight. He was immediately taken to a pediatric hospital for treatment. Medical staff say he will receive both physical care and mental health support.
Italian Foreign Minister Luigi Di Maio said the country was “deeply moved” by Yazan’s story. “We have a duty to help innocent victims, especially children,” he said.
The airstrike that hit Yazan’s home occurred during one of the deadliest phases of the Gaza conflict. Human rights groups have condemned the attack as part of a broader pattern of civilian harm.
The Italian public has shown overwhelming support for Yazan. Donations have been raised for his recovery and long-term care.
The war between Israel and Hamas has led to thousands of civilian deaths. Children like Yazan have become symbols of the ongoing humanitarian crisis in Gaza.
